our home study and the body of Christ

One of the things I have been anxious about is the "Home Study" part of this whole process. Those of you who know me well, know that I'm not the most organized or detailed person... sometimes I get frustrated at myself for that, but other times it's a blessing because it allows for others to come along-side and use their gifts to bless me and Dan (and you, our future kids!)I think that's how God intended it. He gives us each different gifts (and different weaknesses) in order to help us rely upon Him and others in our lives. One thing I love about our grassRoots family is that serving one another is just a part of being the church. If someone's sick, we will bring soup. If someone's needing a ride, or needing prayers, or needing help cleaning for a home-study, there's always someone to step up and say "what can I do?"  It really is a beautiful thing and this group has blessed me in this season of our lives. I know as we continue with our adoption process that we will continue to need to lean on our brothers and sisters for support, wisdom, prayer, and practical things. home1-2Paul writes about this idea in his letters to the Corinthians. It's a beautiful way of looking at what Jesus intended the church to be. Not a building, not something you do only on Sunday mornings, but a body, working together to bring love in a real way to people in the world."There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men... The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,  and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.  If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.  Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it".untitled shoot-018We're so thankful for our friends/fam who came over this week and helped us make the house home-study ready...or at least most of it!Thank you Ross family and Stephanie for blessing us and our future kids.  We love you guys.(And have a lot of fun with you, too.)  Check out this little video... fun from the other night...  :) put this password in to view it: awesomedance  {don't want them to get too popular, you know!?)untitled shoot-013We have had three home study meetings already and it's gone very well. Thanks to God's provision and to His body, the church, His people...Thankful to be doing this adoption journey with so many others. It's such a cool and inspiring way to see God's hand working in and through others to one day unite us with our kids through adoption.
