the challenge

Dear Kids,

Already this is challenging. And some might say that the most difficult parts haven't even begun, yet! We are at the place of wanting to, but hesitant in taking the step...the BIG step of deciding to really begin.  We've taken the step in our hearts; dreaming of our future with you kids, imagining seeing you for the first time, thinking about how it will be when you're home and in our arms. But the first literal step is filling out the application. It is a declaration that says "Yes- we are fully committed. We are ready and will be able to provide".  This is scary for us. Honestly, with the cost of renting this big house (in order to do a home-study), we don't have a lot of money left over after food, gas, bills, donations, and taxes, but that's beside the point (you don't need to worry about all that stuff until your much older)!  In the midst of all this, God keeps reminding me is that HE will take care of us.  He promises.“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."   -Matthew 6 Clinging to His word is going to be such an important part of this journey for us.  I know in times of doubt and uncertainty when the light at the end of the tunnel seems far off, we can come to Him and remember what He promises.  O God, give us faith! For me, I don't want to wait longer to start.  The challenge is knowing if now is the time.  I've heard from others that this step can be the hardest (and some people may never take it).  We promise we will come for you...and in the mean-time, we will be asking God to direct our paths to you (the ones He has picked out already!) and that He will be covering you with His love, peace, and protection- wherever you are.  Your heavenly Father knows what you need.

love, us.
